One Year Wedding Anniversary

One year ago on May 25, 2013 I married my best friend.

I remember counting down the days for so long to May 25th and then all of a sudden it was here. On the Friday we did set up, had a BBQ with our family and bridal party, went to the Church rehearsal,  I went to the hotel with the girls for the night and Neil went home to hang with the guys.

Saturday morning I woke up and it was the big day. We got ready, headed to the church and I was finally walking down the aisle on my dads arm to my groom. I figured I would bawl my eyes out but I didn't. I was just so excited and happy to finally be in that moment. We said our vows, we kissed and we became husband and wife. I became Neil's wife. A title that I cherish and love so much. I still get excited to refer to him as my husband.

The whole wedding weekend was perfect, it really was. We still can't say anything bad or complain that something went wrong. We, as well as our families enjoyed it all.

Neil and I were told on numerous occasions that things change when you get married. We were told that when moving in together, and now while we're expecting our first baby. And they have changed, for better and not for worse. We got married and my last name changed and Neil went from wearing just 1 ring on his right hand to wearing a wedding band on his left. Those are probably the biggest changes we encountered. We both have the same chores around the house, we both enjoy hanging out at home with our cats vs. being gone in the evenings, we honestly rarely fight and if we do it's usually over something minor and it's resolved quickly, we support each others interests {which is me being his cheerleader at whichever sports event he's playing}, we give each other our space and downtime when its needed. To sum it up, things really haven't changed all that much and I think we're pretty lucky with that.

We've been together for almost 7 years. Getting engaged and married was just the next steps in life and it's been a good, uncomplicated transition as the years go by. I feel truly lucky to be in a relationship with Neil. To have him as my husband, my support system, my comfort pillow when I'm going through a rough time and in this next step of life, as parents. I feel so lucky that I am his wife. Why did he chose me ? How did I win the lottery ? These are questions I ask myself sometimes, and all I can say is I'm just lucky.

Celebrating our 1 year anniversary isn't this accomplishment we had to work hard to get at. It literally was a year that flew by and it's here now and we can just look back and remember how great of a weekend we had, how awesome our wedding was and how that one day turned us into husband and wife.

Neil, you know I love you with all of my heart and soul. I don't need to go into details to explain what you mean to me, you already know. Happy one year anniversary love, here's to the 99 left to go ! xo

{fun note, as I was writing this post, our entrance song "Moves Like Jagger" - Maroon 5 came on :))}

Stretch Marks: None

Best Moment This Week: Hearing the heartbeat at the doctors office Wednesday morning, plus scheduling our next ultrasound
Worst Moment This Week: Going to Minor ER last week, sitting waiting for an hour & 45 mins to see a doctor. Thankfully it was nothing major, but it really annoys me to sit so long to see someone

Cravings: I don't find myself craving anything specific, I'm just eating all the time right now. I know I'm full and don't need anything, but I still want to eat something
Recently Purchased: I ordered 2 baby goodies Tuesday morning:

I had found this online a long time ago and always had it in the back of my mind to get one when we we're having a baby. Friends of ours had their little guy in one this weekend at the lake and he made me love it even more ! Even Neil is excited to have this as a baby gear item. I have a feeling it will be used lots.

The ERGObaby carrier was the first baby item I made back in the fall. I'm super excited to use it and plan on using it a lot, but I've also been interested in a soft wrap to have as another option. I've read on numerous blogs about how much they love their Solly Wrap. So I bit the bullet and ordered the mint one. It doesn't ship until June {not like we need it right away anyways} but I'm excited for it to arrive. The baby model just looks so comfy/cozy in it !

I received a pregnancy package from the doctors office that contained a magazine, a lotion sample and a coupon pamphlet. I decided to check out the coupon book and it had 4 different offers of a 100% discount on an item you choose. I immediately assumed it was a scam but it's legit. I ordered a car seat canopy {$50 value} and a nursing cover {$40 value} for free ! All I had to pay for was the shipping {$15 and $13, I payed for it with PayPal in case of any issues}. I think that's a pretty sweet deal and even better savings. Here's the ones I ordered:

Can't wait to recieve all of my online shopping items !

What Day Is It ?

I have to look back in my iPhone calendar to see what we've been up too. Last week and this week have been jam packed with things going on in the evenings and on the weekend.

{Thursday May 8th} We went to mom & dads for supper, got the golf carts tuned up and got groceries/things we needed for the lake.

{Friday May 9th - Sunday May 11th} We spent our first official weekend at the lake. Unfortunately it was quite cold and windy majority of the weekend but that didn't stop us from having fires, golfing and going for walks. There was literally no one out yet, just our Martins Lake crew on the hill {mom/dad/Neil/Dallas/me, Rod/Jo, Gilbert/Merial}. Because I am unable to have alcoholic beverages this summer, I made virgin Shirley Temples and Pina Coladas & they were delicious ! Can't wait to get out this weekend and drink some more.

{Monday} We went to Neils parents for supper to celebrate his dads birthday

{Tuesday} Morning I woke up with a crazy, sharp pain in my front right abdomen. It wasn't a typical cramp or a sore muscle type of feeling. I told Neil about it and we were discussing if I should go to Minor ER to have it checked. I hate to go there and get told it's nothing... and that's exactly what happened. He said it was muscle related and as my body is shifting and stretching, my muscles may react funny. I waited 1hour & 45mins to be told this.. but I was able to hear the heartbeat on the doppler and get a read of 147bpm. That was the only good thing that came out of me waiting for that long.

In the evening I attended a baby shower for Brynley & Krystal. She got loads of cute girlie things and I'm hoping she'll share some of her goodies if we have a girl ;))

{Wednesday} Tonight Neil has his first slo pitch game of the season. I want to go but I'm trying to figure out if I should go or if I should take advantage of having a "free evening" and just take it easy. We'll see if I make up my mind before 5:30pm

{Thursday and into the long weekend} We have plans to groceries and things ready for the lake. So much goes into getting ready for the lake for just the 2 of us, I can't imagine what it's going to be like next year with a little one. We're excited to relax at the lake for the long weekend and hope for really good weather. It doesn't look promising right now but that won't stop us from enjoying a 3 day weekend.

I think next week looks a little bit calmer for us. I have to admit I'm feeling overwhelmed this morning and would like to have a little cry fest by myself. Just 2 more days of work {that include a staff BBQ on Friday} and I can de-stress and get rid of all this crappy energy at the lake !

What I'm Loving Wednesdays

I'm loving...

... that the snow is officially gone ! {I hope it doesn't come back even a little bit}

... that I had a luxurious pedicure last night at Dahlia Salon & Spa & got a Shellac polish finish {thanks hubs for the Valentines gift !}. it felt soo good & nice to just relax. I may have to go each month before baby comes

... that we finished our yard work this weekend and it looks so good ! now we just have to plant flowers, set the pool up and enjoy

... that it's Wednesday and we are 2 sleeps away from going to the lake for the weekend

... that Pine & Fancy sells Vanilla Coke, yum !

... the bedframe we bought for our room

... that the baby's room is coming together

... and finally, I am REALLY loving my Bump Nest pillow. I wasn't able to use it Sunday night and had The Worst Sleep. I can't believe a body pillow makes me so comfortable at night. it may have to come to the lake with us this weekend.... husband + Bump Nest + air mattress = interesting sleep arrangements....

Busy Weekend Re-cap

We had a crazy, busy, productive weekend.

{Friday} night Neil spent 3 hours building the dresser we bought for the nursery. It turned out soo good and we are both so happy we went with the gray-brown vs. the white stain finish. Every time I walk by or in the room, I fall in love with it more. The room is coming along nicely !

 {the dresser ! so happy with it}

{Saturday} we spent the morning doing yard work. In the fall, we didn't get a chance to rake and do the seasonal yard work before the snow fell. There were soo many leaves in the yard and in the gutters. Neil was on the roof trying to clean out all the crap in the gutters and I was raking the backyard.We have a HUGE yard and I knew it was going to be a lot of work, but my body aches from raking so much ! It was cemented to the grass from being wet and sitting in snow all weekend so we really had to use a lot of force to scrape it off.

In the afternoon we went downtown to do a Lululemon return, stopped in at Escape Sports and Babies R Us on the way to visit our friends Krystal & Jay. We got to meet their cute as a button newborn baby girl Brynley ! She is such a doll and seems to be an angel baby. Our plan was to visit for an hour but we ended up staying for almost 2 ! It was such a good visit and we both were so excited to meet Brynley. We treated ourselves to Earls for supper {my sweet husband knows how much I love their Fettuccine Alfredo dish} and made our way home to have a quiet evening. We watched Last Vegas and it was hilarious !! I want to watch it with my parents at the lake one weekend but unfortunately we can't rent movies anymore... so either I have to buy it, or do something else.... anyways, really good movie !

{Sunday} morning we woke up, had breakfast & made our way into the city. We stopped by Brent & Chantels to have a quick visit with Owen, got groceries, stopped at Princess Auto & Wholesale Sports. We did it all before noon and continued to work in the yard once we got home. We made piles of everything we cleaned on Saturday and had to bag it all. By the time we finished it looked amazing. Such a huge difference before & after ! {I didn't take any pictures to prove it, oops}. We finally got to shower and have some downtime around 3:30, Dallas came over around supper and hung out until 8:30. I snuck into bed shortly after 8:30 fighting to stay awake while watching The Big Bang Theory.

Like I said.. very good, busy, productive weekend ! I don't want to do yardwork like that until fall now... and I may want to put the house on the market if we ever have to do it again {wink, wink #nothappening}

Blue or Pink ??

We are not finding out what we are having but it's still fun to think/guess what it's going to be. I've read tons of blogs that post the "old wives-tale" questionnaire trying to figure out what they are having. This is a just for fun post.

Morning Sickness: I had it here and there in the beginning, then at 10 weeks it happened everyday {minus the weekends, weird} for 2 weeks. I think it was honestly because I was taking my prenatal vitamin first thing in the morning and without any food causing me to be sick right away. They say girls cause morning sickness so I would say BOY for this

Soft or Dry Skin: My legs look like alligator skin no matter how much lotion or oil I put on. Dry skin = BOY

Craving Citrus: In the beginning I couldn't drink enough five alive and apple juice. I was eating an apple every night too. Citrus craving = GIRL

Have I felt glowing or less then beautiful with lots of breakouts?: Unfortunately I have had the worst, most painful breakouts on my chest and back. It's so annoying and I don't want to be seen in anything but t-shirts and sweaters to hide it. I finally have some topical medication that seems to be helping, but I would really like for it to just go away. They say little girls take beauty out of their mamas so this would mean GIRL

Heartbeat Indicator: We only got to listen to the heartbeat for the first time last week and that was just a sound, no actual measurement of how fast. Hopefully at my next doctors appointment we will get an actual read.

How you carry: As of right now, I feel as though I have Pillsbury dough-boy tummy vs. a pregnant belly. I've always had some tummy, it's never been flat with no fat so I think it make take longer for me to pop/have a belly bump. As of right now my tummy is low pudgy right now which would mean it could be a BOY

Heartburn: No = BOY

Headaches: I get them really bad when I wake up in the mornings and I haven't slept good. I'll also get them randomly throughout the day. Yes to headaches = BOY

Sleeping on Left or Right: I've always slept facing the outside of the bed which would be the left side. Left = BOY

Mama's Instincts: I've always told Neil even before we got pregnant that I think we'll have a boy first. He has 2 brothers, I have 1 brother, his brothers first baby was a boy. Math wise is just seems like it'll be a boy first and I still feel that way now. I will truly, truly be shocked & surprised if they announce "it's a girl" come October !
